Maprocin (Ciprofloxacin) is a fluorinated 4-quinolone antimicrobial agent. Ciprofloxacin represents important therapeutic advancement for broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity and is effective after administration.

INDICATIONS :
Maprocin-500 & Maprocin-750 Tab: Severe and Complicated- Bone & joint infections, Lower respiratory tract infections, Skin & skin structure infections, Urinary tract infections, Surgical prophylaxis (60-90 minutes before procedure).
Other Indications: Urethral and cervical gonococcal infections and other sexually transmitted diseases.
Maprocin Susp: Typhoid fever, Infectious diarrhea, Bone & joint infections, Lower respiratory tract infections, Gastro-intestinal infections.
Maprocin IV : Pneumonia, Infected pleurisy, Lung abscess, Bronchiectasis, Acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, Salpingitis, Endometritis, Pelvic inflammatory disease, Enteric fever, Infective diarrhea, Otitis media, Sinusitis, Mastoiditis, Otitis externa, Peritonitis, Intra-abdominal infections, Abscesses, Cholangitis, Cholecystitis, Empyema of gall bladder, Infected ulcers, Wound infections, Abscess, Cellulitis, Acute and chronic Osteomyelitis, Septic arthritis, Acute and chronic pyelo-nephritis, Prostatitis, cystitis, Epididymitis, and chronic, complicated or recurrent UTI.

DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION :

Lower respiratory tract infections	500 – 750 mg, 12 hourly	7–14 days
Typhoid fever	500 mg, 12 hourly	10 days
Infectious diarrhea	500 mg, 12 hourly	5-7 days
Bone &  joint infections	500–750 mg, 12 hourly	4 – 6 wks
Skin & skin structure infections	500 mg, 12 hourly	7–14 days

Children (above 1 year): 10-30 mg/kg/day depending on the severity of infections, administered in two divided dose.

Maprocin IV:
Adults:
Infusion Rate: 25-50 drops/min
Infusion period: 30-60 minutes.
Duration: 7 days
Per day: 2 times.
Dosage Range: 200mg (100ml bag)

Children:
The doses of Ciprofloxacin I.V. (MAPROCIN INJECTION) should be 5-10mg/kg/day in two divided doses. (If a child is 10 kg, then dose is 100mg and is given by 50mg & 50mg in a day).
